What We Look For

  • Original reporting. Not rewritten press releases. We want stories with named sources, expert quotes, and data you have verified.
  • Subject-matter expertise. You understand your beat deeply. Whether it is AI policy, sports analytics, or restaurant culture, your knowledge shows in the writing.
  • Clear, accessible prose. Complex topics explained without jargon. We never assume the reader has prior knowledge.
  • Consistency. We value contributors who can deliver 2-3 articles per week on a reliable schedule.

Article Guidelines

Minimum length

1,600 words. Most published pieces are 1,800 to 2,500 words.

Sources

At least 1 named expert quote per article. No anonymous sources without editorial approval.

Structure

Lead with the news. H2 subheadings every 200-300 words. Close with a forward-looking perspective.

Tone

Informative, not advisory. We report and analyze. We do not tell readers what to do.

Originality

100% original. No AI-generated content without full human editorial review and disclosure.

SEO

Keyword-aware headlines (max 65 characters), meta descriptions (150-160 characters), and descriptive internal links.

What We Do Not Accept

  • Sponsored content, advertorials, or paid placements disguised as editorial
  • Content previously published elsewhere (no syndication or reposts)
  • Clickbait headlines, unsourced claims, or speculation presented as fact
  • Self-promotional pieces or thinly veiled product pitches
  • Content that violates our Editorial Policy

How to Apply

Send an email to editors@anewstime.com with the subject line "Contributor Application: [Your Beat]" and include:

  1. A brief introduction (2-3 sentences about your background and expertise)
  2. Your proposed beat or category from the list above
  3. 3 links to published writing samples (your own bylined work)
  4. 2-3 article pitches you would write for ANewsTime

Our editorial team reviews applications within 5 business days. If your pitch aligns with our coverage, we will respond with next steps including a paid trial assignment.

Compensation

All contributors are paid. Rates depend on experience, article type, and frequency. We discuss compensation during the onboarding process. Regular contributors receive a byline page, author bio, and social promotion of their work.
