Tips to Get Good IELTS Score

1. Understand the Pattern of Exam

Before embarking on any test, it is very important that you fully understand the test format. IELTS evaluates a candidate on 4 parameters: reading, writing, listening and speaking. Candidates must prove their skills in all 4 areas in 2 hours and 45 minutes. Time allotted for each test:

Listening Section: 30 minutes

Reading Section: 60 minutes

Writing Section: 60 minutes

Speaking Section: 11 to 14 minutes

Listening, reading and writing tests are completed in one day. The speech test is taken a week before or after the remaining three tests.

2. Prepare as much as you can

“Practice makes a person perfect” applies to the IELTS test as well. If you want to break IELTS in one go, you need to train and practice regularly. To improve your listening skills, you need to be patient and understand every word that is said. Over time, reading ability improves. And read aloud to improvise your pronunciation, write essays on topics that interest you. Don’t worry too much about the grammar part; Just make sure you can write non-stop fluently because every minute counts. Talk to people, practice speaking English in front of a mirror. Fluency doesn’t come overnight, so keep exercising until you get there.

3. Don’t Exceed Word Limit

When preparing for a writing exam, keep in mind that you shouldn’t write much, even if thousands of ideas are spinning in your brain. Time management is the most important part of the IELTS exam and you should always keep in mind that you need to finish on time. A 300-word essay is better than writing a 400-word essay with repetitive lines and misinterpreted sentences.

4. Smoothness over Expressions

Pay attention to fluency when speaking, because that’s what judges you. If you think too much about the dictionary, you may stumble between conversations. Don’t get nervous, instead try to continue the conversation fluently

5. Ignore Repetitiveness

Monotony is boring. Try to make changes to your reading and writing style by changing words, building sentences, and changing your tone.
